Similar to previous week but using vegetables – N.B. objectives and
outcomes are different
Explain to the children that the vegetables need to be washed before
doing anything with it
Have
a variety of vegetables ready for exploration and investigation using
senses.
Children to be in positions so that they are able to experience and
examine the different vegetables. Children to feel, smell vegetables
before they have been peeled or cut up. Match real vegetables to
vegetables / pictures / symbols / words. Cut up or peel the different
vegetables and then feel, smell, taste.
Have
a pre-prepared vegetable soup ready to taste. |
P1(i) with help use senses to experiences the vegetables
P1(ii) respond in some way to the smell of the onion when cut up
P2(i) watch as the vegetables are cut up and smelt / felt
P2(ii)turn towards a particular vegetable in preference to another
P3(i) react knowingly that the smell of an onion can make the eyes sting
P3(ii) push the vegetable away if they do not like the smell of it

with adult support use a potato peeler

tinned or packet soup, some way to heat it, cups / bowls / spoons
to taste soup
