Which different directions can we move in?

 

 

P1(i)  encounter activities

 P5 link two actions in a sequence

P6 move in a variety of ways

Warm up –walking and running on the spot and around the hall

Practise stopping and starting

Play statue stops.

Floor work – practise different ways of moving on the feet going forwards and other directions in particular sideways

Move on all fours forwards and sideways in different ways

Apparatus work – travel on feet forwards and sideways using all the space around the benches and mats

Practise travelling actions along and off the apparatus, thinking about direction.

Cool down

Lie on the floor and tense then relax the body

 

P1(i)  move around with or are pushed around by an adult in different directions

P1(ii) briefly turn towards a fast moving group of children

P2(i) show some excitement when they move quickly in a different direction

P2(ii) smile when they move in different directions with an adult

 

P3(i) will walk or run around the hall independently or with only little support

P3(ii) begin to move when the other children move on the request of start /go

P4 will walk or run on request with a little prompt from the adult

P5 can travel forwards and then change direction

P6 walk, run and change direction

P7 follow the request of the adult to run on the spot and then around the hall

P8 walk, run, move around the room and is aware of the spatial aspect

Points to note:

The statue game is a non elimination game.

The ‘stop’ signal can be vocal, signed or a symbol whichever is more appropriate for your group
